Welcome to ruralrapture.com!

ruralrapture.com is all about country living close to the city. It's aimed at those thinking about moving from the city to the country, those that recently have and those that want to bring some country ideas to the city. Acknowledging that we all have to start somewhere - we can't be experts in the first instance - ruralrapture.com covers topics and ideas from a newcomer's perspective. It is more about personal experiences and recommendations than cold hard facts that you will find in a 'how to' manual.

"..it's a lovely personal account by Alyson Hill but also a great guide to everything..."

"Spent the wee hours of Saturday morning in Calvary emergency with my 4yo. Took your book to pass the time and finished it ...... with a broad smile on my dial. What a great easy read. Here's to slowing life down a little, taking time to smell the roses and watching chook soap operas."

"..Alyson, while sitting on the back porch, nursing a cuppa and watching her chooks, muses that she doesn’t want to be a battery hen, bound and subjected to other people’s demands on her time, body, freedom and production, but a free range chook –spontaneous, raucous, engaged in the moment and completely absorbed in her work and play.."
The Duck Herder

Alyson was featured on ABC's Stateline television show talking about living rurally, writing and chickens.
